“Run Behind the Bulls”

This program begins with the quote: “Run Behind The Bulls!”… and I depict the story of when I ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. This story will stand the hairs up on your arms and give you chills, as the audience lives out what it’s really like to experience this event. The analogy that I draw from this story is that when you push yourself out of your comfort zone with a strong belief in yourself and your capabilities, you can establish a new level of “normal” for yourself and your performance follows.

We all have “bulls” in our life and they show up in a variety of ways.  From the fear of public speaking, to asking for a deal, to being vulnerable, to feeling like you don’t deserve what you have.  I provide key strategies and ways for individuals and teams to summon the courage and resolve to run with their bulls, so that they come out victorious in their fields and achieve a new and higher level of performance in their lives and careers.

“Handbrake Beliefs”

Releasing Your True Performance Potential

I’m going to let you in on a secret.  “We’ve all been driving through life with our handbrake engaged.”  What does it feel like to have your handbrake engaged?

You’ve gotten this far, but it’s been a struggle.  There have been times where you’ve had to confront your fears and felt stuck in a role that you disliked. You’ve felt resistance at times, fear, hesitation, doubt, negativity, self-deprecation.  What is this handbrake and why is it engaged?  The handbrake are your BELIEFS.

We are shaped by our beliefs and the opinions of others, which we’ve given sanction to, and these handbrake beliefs have held us back from our potential.  However, when you learn how to “unlearn” and replace old beliefs with new ones, you can step on the accelerator and drive through the rest of your life living and leveraging your full potential.

“Believe to Achieve”

Roger Bannister’s 4-minute Mile

Scientists said it was humanly impossible, but on May 5th, 1954, Roger Bannister broke the four-minute mile. Our abilities may illustrate to us what we can do now, but our beliefs dictate our potential.

In this keynote, Sergio illustrates three key points that help audiences build the strength of their beliefs in order to break through personal barriers just like Roger Bannister did by focusing on:

  • SELF TALK: Our greatest Influencer and Detractor! What we believe about ourselves, and the story we tell ourselves (whether we say it out loud or quietly in our heads), will change our behavior and eventually our outcomes.
  • HABITS: Goals may be the buzz-phrase for achievers, but the Habits that we can set in place are the true predictors of our success. They are the scaffolding for the goals we are trying to achieve.
  • ATTITUDES: And finally, our attitudes dictate the way we approach life and our goals. We always have a choice and an opportunity to decide how we will perceive events that occur in our lives. Your attitude is the fork in the road and how we choose to answer, approach, perceive makes all the difference in the world.

The Science Behind “The Secret”

In today’s world of rapid change, social media and information overload, it is more important than ever to learn how to focus on what’s important to you in your life and career.  How can we do this?

Our minds are tremendously powerful tools and by understanding the following  concepts, you will be able to focus in on what’s important to you and block out those people and things that are not supporting you.

  • RETICULAR ACTIVATING SYSTEM (RAS):– RAS for short. It allows us to FOCUS and block out the rest of the world. Athletes call it being in the zone.
  • BLINDSPOTS: When we lock on to an idea, opinion, perception or attitude, we naturally create blind spots to opportunities that may be better.  How many potential solutions and opportunities have we missed in our personal and professional lives because we didn’t realize that we created blind spots to new points of view?
